SHINee Finishes Debut Showcase in Abbey Road Studios Successfully
Male group SHINee made successful performances on their Japan debut showcase stage in Abbey Road Studios.
According to SM Entertainment on 21 June, SHINee had a showcase stage in Abbey Road Studios, London at 3:40 p.m. (local time) on 19 June.
The showcase was held in London, in which EMI Music headquarters are located, to celebrate SHINee’s official debut in Japan. They performed for about 30 minutes in front of media and interested parties of the industry.
It was unprecedented to have the first debut reception in Abbey Road Studios, a sacred place of music in which musicians such as Stevie Wonder and Brian Adams performed. This special plan was made for SHINee, a team set for global activities on the world stage.
David Kassler, CEO of EMI Music (in Asia and Europe), stated, “SHINee has something overwhelming and unique, not found in the West, in appearance, style, and dance. I think they have potential to stand shoulder to shoulder with great artists in the future.”
SHINee performed Replay-You Are My Everything, their Japanese debut song, which is Japanese version of their Korean debut song Noona Is So Pretty, and the Japanese version of Hello. They also attracted attention by singing their hit songs such as Juliette, Ring Ding Dong, and Lucifer.
After performing total 6 songs, SHINee garnered compliments from the attending interested parties of the music industry. Jonghyun, who could not perform in the showcase due to high fever, participated in the last performance, ‘Replay-You Are My Everything, Abbey Road Special,’ and received a big applause.
SHINee will leave for Japan on 22 June after finishing their Japanese debut showcase in London and start their promotion activities for their debut single Replay. They will participate in MTV Music Award Japan (VMAJ) to be held Makuhari Messe in Chiba.
Edit: Their Japanese debut song Replay – You Are My Everything was rearranged to a piano and strings version titled ‘Replay – You Are My Everything, Abbey Road Specia.’ It was made more special with a string quartet by musicians from London Metropolitan Orchestra, which have participated in performances by U2, Sting, Pet Shop Boys, and Pink Floyd, as well as in OSTs.

SHINee made successful performances on their Japan debut showcase which is the first gateway into the global marketplace at Abbey Road Studios in UK, a sacred place of music as the first Asian singer.
SHINee had a showcase stage at Abbey Road Studios, London at 3:40 p.m. (local time) on 19 June. The showcase was held in London, in which EMI Music headquarters are located, to celebrate SHINee’s official debut in Japan. They performed for about 30 minutes in front of media and interested parties of the music industry.
Especially, it was unprecedented to have the first debut reception at Abbey Road Studios, a sacred place of music in which musicians such as Stevie Wonder and Brian Adams performed. SHINee’s official debut in Japan is actually the first step toward their venture into the world, so considering the global team’s nature and color, they planned and pursued a differentiated showcase at Abbey Road Studios hand in hand with EMI Music Japan affiliated with EMI Music, a world-wide record company.

SHINee performed their Japanese debut song ‘Replay Kimi Wa Boku No everything,’ which is Japanese version of their Korean debut song ‘Replay' and the Japanese version of ‘Hello.’ They also attracted attention by singing their hit songs such as ‘Juliette,’ ‘Ring Ding Dong,’ and ‘Lucifer.’
In addition, SHINee specially arranged ‘Replay- Kimi Wa Boku No everything’ with the piano and string instrument and presented it under the title of ‘Replay- Kimi Wa Boku No everything- Abbey Road Special.’ The musician from London Metropolitan Orchestra who participated in movie soundtracks and performance of famous artists such as U2, Sting, Pet Shop Boys, Pink Floyd, etc.

The selected fans were the envy of many fans who had formed a long line around the Abbey Road Studios since morning.
After the showcase, a member from SHINee, KEY stated, “My mother is a fan of Beatles so I feel very pleased to perform at the place, where Beatles recorded, as the first Asian singer. I feel so proud to add a new history in this place where the history is breathing.When I saw the pictures of worldwide artists such as Beatles and Steive Wonder hanging on the Abbey Road Studios hallway, I wished we could hang our pictures on the hallway too and thought we should make a greater effort.” The leader, ONEW said, “If Paris is the birthplace of fashion then UK is the birthplace of pop music. It’s a pleasure and honor for SHINee to perform at the Abbey Road Studios, a sacred place of music, as the first Asian singer. Since we made a first step with the meaningful performance, SHINee will be highly active and will extend farther and farther away."

샤이니가 세계 진출의 첫 관문인 일본 데뷔 무대를 음악의 성지, 영국 애비로드 스튜디오에서 아시아 가수 최초로 공연을 펼치며, 화려하게 장식했다.
지 난 19일 오후 3시 40분 (런던 현지시간) 영국 런던에 위치한 애비로드 스튜디오에서 비공개로 진행된 이번 공연은 샤이니의 일본 정식 데뷔를 기념해 세계적인 레코드사인 EMI의 본사가 있는 영국 런던에서 개최, 음반 관계자들 및 미디어의 집중적인 관심 속에 30분 가량 펼쳐쳤다.
특히 샤이니의 일본 데뷔 첫 무대를 스티비 원더, 브라이언 아담스 등이 공연했던 음악의 성지인 영국 애비로드 스튜디오에서 진행한 것은 이례적인 일로, 샤이니가 세계 진출을 목표로 글로벌한 활동을 펼치는 팀인 만큼 특별히 기획되었다. 일본 정식 데뷔는 사실상 샤이니의 세계 진출 첫 관문이라 할 수 있으므로, 글로벌한 활동을 펼치는 팀의 성격과 색깔을 고려, 월드 와이드 레코드사 EMI 뮤직의 일본 법인인 EMI 뮤직 재팬과 손을 잡고, 데뷔 무대부터 차별화를 강조하기 위해 애비로드 스튜디오 공연을 기획, 추진했다.
EMI 뮤직의 CEO(미국을 제외한 아시아, 유럽 CEO)인 David Kassler는 “샤이니는 외모, 스타일, 댄스 등 서양에는 없는 압도적인 것을 가지고 있다. 장래에 위대한 아티스트들과 어깨를 나란히 할 수 있는 가능성을 지닌 팀이다.”라고 평가하며 샤이니에 대한 높은 관심과 기대를 드러내기도 했다.
이날 공연에서 샤이니는 한국 데뷔 곡 ‘누난 너무 예뻐’의 일본어 버전이자, 일본 데뷔곡이기도 한 ‘Replay-키미와 보쿠노 everything(너는 나의 모든 것)’과 ‘헬로’의 일본어 버전을 선보였으며, 히트곡 ‘줄리엣’, ’링딩동’, ’루시퍼’등은 한국어 버전으로 열창해 눈길을 끌었다.
더불어 일본 데뷔곡 ‘Replay-키미와 보쿠노 everything’을 피아노와 현악기를 활용해 특별히 편곡, ‘Replay –키미와 보쿠노 everything- Abbey Road Special’이라는 제목으로 선사했으며, 이날 현악 4중주에는 유투(U2), 스팅(Sting), 펫샵 보이즈(Pet Shop Boys), 핑크 플로이드 (Pink Floyd )등 유명 아티스트 공연및 영화 음악 등에도 다수 참가한 바 있는 London Metropolitan Orchestra의 뮤지션이 참여해 특별함을 더했다.
이 번 공연에서 총 6곡을 소화한 샤이니는 음반 관계자들의 찬사를 받았으며, 고열로 인해 쇼케이스 무대에 오르지 못했던 멤버 종현은 본인의 강력한 의지로 마지막 곡이었던 「Replay –키미와 보쿠노 everything- Abbey Road Special」 무대에는 참여, 뜨거운 박수 세례를 받았다.

한편, 샤이니는 런던에서의 일본 데뷔 첫 무대를 마치고 22일 일본으로 출국, 6월 22일 출시되는 일본 데뷔 싱글 ‘Replay’ 관련 프로모션에 박차를 가하며, 6월 25일에는 레이디 가가 등이 출연, 일본 지바현 마쿠하리메세에서 펼쳐지는 'MTV 뮤직비디오 어워드 재팬( VMAJ)에 참석한다.
