Onew Onew Onew.....Jinki!

Well....Only something like this would bring me out of my medical leave these days lol.
(For those who don't know....I had a problem with my heart or actually one of the blood vessels and had surgery to correct it, which was very successful and I am recovering nicely)
International fans have been taking a lot of crap recently but quite honestly....I've never been prouder to be one than I am today. As a whole, we seem to be much more accepting to the idea that Onew could possible be in a relationship. I wonder if maybe its because as a whole we tend to be older and more mature? I am not even going to get into the whole cultural differences issue here because quite honestly unless you're a brand new kpop fan you're at least aware and not surprised by this issue.
I guess if you're a casual Shawol/kpop fan Onew dating came as a big surprise. If you delve a little deeper like some of us this was not new, in fact rumors about Jinki and After School's Jungah date back years, with Onew himself saying she is his ideal type since 2010....at least. In fact....of all the SHINee members, Onew was the 1st member I ever saw a stalker/saesang picture of, him with a female being quite close, from I believe late 2009 or early 2010. I have a whole folder of them now, unfortunately I didn't save it because well, it really didn't concern me even back then. He's a man....after all.
Super Junior members, and especially Heechul have never hidden the fact that...idols date. They always have, they always will, they are humans with human needs. Considering the very stressful (insert Kang Gary scream here "STRESssss!!!!") lives they lead, don't they deserve to at least unwind with a little human companionship?
No one ships Jongkey and 2MIN harder than I do, but, having said that I have long since accepted (even Taemin's rumored relationship with a nonceleb) that things go on we will never really know the truth about. Some of those being that they date, they love, they fight....they make mistakes. They even OMG smoke?
Yes friends and fans.....that was an e-cigarette that Onew was puffin on. I'm probably more surprised about that than anything because I adore Onew's honey voice and wouldn't want to hear that ruined, oh well, his choice not mine. He is a 25 year old man after all.
In conclusion, I say "Let the man live!" Having seen Jinki go through what appears to be bouts of depression and considering his recent "scandals" he deserves what ever small moments of normalcy he can fit into his life without fandom's going all apeshit.
And as my friend Divalcious says "Get it! Get it!"

My Music Radar! Second Year Anniversary...while the world mourns

Annyeong friends and fans, My Music Radar!'s second anniversary was last Friday, December 14, 2012, which was also the day of the Newtown shooting.
I was quite frankly too busy sobbing to think of celebrating anything that day. In fact I'm still not much in a celebrating mood, since we are based in Connecticut not far from Newtown.  We are probably seeing and hearing more than the rest of the nation and the world, due to our proximity. We will never forget.
After talking to my very good friend Erika of Oddness/Weirdness, who reassured me it was not too late, I decided to at least acknowledge our anniversary as it has been an amazing 2 years bringing Kpop to you all.
We are mostly active on Under The Radar! these days, which is My Music Radar!'s tumblr.
Thanks to our many friends and fans for your continued support. Saranghae!

Friday Fun! or Kpop is good for Everything or Sherlock tumblr tag 2.0

[Random] a K-Shawol snap a photo today at a music store, and found out 'Korn' CD is placed on 20+ music area XD
Source:ilovetaemin

See???? Kpop is good for everything/everyone! When I first heard rumors of Taemin singing a KoRn song I was all..."in what universe does THIS make sense?" o.O Everyone was searching and guessing which song it would be. Well it sure didn't take Shawols long....'Get Up' then the wait for videos started.... Remember what happened on the tumblr Sherlock tag? Shawols had the Sherlockians anywhere from WTF to When did Sherlock become Asian? O.o Now its surely KoRn's turn to be all "Wait who? Shiny who?" Of course there is the required 'Taemin brought me here' comment getting thumbed up. In the end Kpop is good for everyone, as I'm sure the downloads and purchases will increase.
Cause no matter what or who the idols of Hallyu touch....it can only get better

What I love so much about Taemin this year is.... his ability to keep us on our toes while keeping us amazed at a never ending array of talent and skills.
Rock on Taemin! This brought together two of my longtime loves Heavy Metal...and Kpop Still looking through the starz for that universe.

Hungry Kpop boys............I'm just sayin

Okies friends and fans, originally I had this attached to the bottom of the
' Who’s the skinniest and heaviest among male idol groups? ' post.
However since I had been doing the research for this post for such a long time, I decided to finish it up and post it up for you anyway.
*dusts off my soapbox*
Been a while since you saw me up here right? ^^

I guess the netizens beat me at this one.
*trashes my 'Hungry kpop boys' folder.....*
>.>
From Stormy's 'Hungry Kpop Boys' folder
There are many kinds of hunger in the kpop world,
the hunger to win, to succeed, to learn a new dance step.
I'm talking here about actual hunger.
Many wake at night hungry.
ie Taemin waking Key in the middle
of the night to make him food,

Who feeds Taemin in the middle of the night?

"because taemin is always still growing up, he gets hungry easily. so he will wake those people who are asleep up to cook sea otter for him. because he's a friend i love so i will do it for him many times."

Infinite's Sungjong to this day hides food in bedroom.
As was seen during 'Sesame Player' Sungjong  hides food in his bag and draws in his bedroom. The members often tease him about his pre-debut days when the CEO wouldn't let him eat after 6PM.
(Sungjong actually lived with the CEO pre-debut)
In this episode the boys take a little time off from practice and Leader Sunggyu orders some chicken for them, but is ultimatley caught by one of their managers who actually takes the food away from them. >.>

It seems to be common practice for idols to not eat after 6PM as when SHINee guested on 'Flower Boy Generation' and wouldn't eat the snacks the MC's bought for them.

Lastly I have this tweet from one of the Block B boys tweeting that despite being exhausted he is so hungry he can't sleep and dreams of the day he can eat all the food he wants.

Honestly I cried after reading this......my Omma heart just wants to feed all these poor hungry boys healthy food that wont make them fat or make their faces bloat.
Growing, exercising, dancing young boys need food for energy with all the intense practice they do.......not to mention the killer schedules they must follow.
I'm just saying.

SHINee releases Taemin's concept teaser for Sherlock! 120308[Update-My Music Radar! Commentary]

IN NEED OF AIR? ME TOO!
OMG! Taemin........

Taemin....lost in a storm of starZzzzzz....
There simply are no words for his beauty T_T

Who's hands are who?

Favorite comment from the interwebz concerning SHINee's comeback concept.
Here someone wittingly has all the comeback boys talking to each other....
Exo: hey guys our 23rd teaser is out
SHINee: lol but we're having a comeback
B1A4: Same
Infinite: Same
Exo: We just made an mv!
B1A4: We've got nice hair colours
Infinite: We're being bad boys
SHINee: We're naked....

bwahahahaha...the best!...right?....o.O

Anyway, now that I have had time to breath
(Thanks to my chingu Diba for the smelling salts, and much needed support from Dasiey)
I happen to think the concept is awesome, If you don't get it,
The 'dreamy french boy' concept is being perfectly portrayed so far.
Both Minho's and Taemin's pictures could not be better at showing off the romantic aura of lounging around on a warm spring day in Paris.
All that's missing are glasses of wine and some artisan cheeses.
Make more sense to you now?
I think if the pictures were seen as drawings or paintings being done by a beret'd artist on the Left Bank in Paris, people would be buying them up like crazy!
Certainly there would be less complaints which quite frankly,
are starting to piss me off >.>
The 'netizens' better not blow this for SHINee,
due to their lack of vision and maturity!
I'm just sayin.....

Kangta, Gil, Baek Ji Young, & Shin Seung Hoon to serve as coaches on ‘Voice Korea’ - MMR Commentary

Prior to the pilot broadcast for ‘Voice Korea‘, Mnet aired a special called ‘Mnet Voice Korea V-Point’ on February 3rd to further heighten anticipation for the show.
The four coaches (Shin Seung Hoon, Baek Ji Young, Kangta, and Leessang‘s Gil) each revealed what they’ll be looking for in the contestants.
Shin Seung Hoon emphasized vocal ability as well as individuality. “There is no absolute standard for music,” he said. “One may possess great vocals and receive a lot of love, but another may possess a distinct individuality that garners love as well. I’ll be looking at both simultaneously.”
Baek Ji Young revealed that she would be focusing her attention on the contestants’ understanding of the songs. “There is one factor that I’ll be looking for specifically. …Since we’ll have to decide on their voices, I think it’s important to look at how well they express themselves [through the song]. Expression and understanding [of the song] will be the main things I’m planning to look for.”
Gil added, “I will be looking for something unconventional. They can be a bit off rhythm. Their pitch can be a bit off. However, when they sing a song that they love, their love for the song must truly be conveyed. The ability to convey their emotions is as important as music itself.”
The final coach, Kangta, revealed that he agreed with Shin Seung Hoon on the importance of individuality. However, he added that a contestant’s potential was one of the key things he would take into account. “I’ll be picking those with individuality and potential. I want to meet someone who has their own unique color,” he said.
Catch the first episode of ‘Voice Korea’ on February 10th!

Okies I must admit, one of the few shows I watch on US TV is 'The Voice' because of course its a music show, but more than that, its ALL about the music and NOT the visuals, at least in the beginning. Last season was full of diverse multi-talented performers who became true artists. Though somewhat predictable (I picked Javier Colon to take the win on the first episode) the battles and coach performances were my favorite part.
My favorite on the show? Little 'Livin the Life' Vicci Martinez. What a little powerhouse! No one else could belt-out a song with the rough edgy vocals like my little Vicci. I screamed for her every week! My favorite performance of all on the show was with her coach Cee Lo Green. 'Love is a Battlefield' suited her perfectly!

The reason for my discourse today? I only hope that 'The Voice Korea' can follow 'The Voice USA' closely and not fall into their trap of 'scripted TV programing' that has recently been such a problem.
With that said, I'm truly looking forward to Korea's take on the program that has been such a big win on programing in the states.

Wonder Girls’ Sohee and 2AM’s Seulong are dating! Or the Soheechul Affect - JYP denies reports that Sohee and Seulong are dating

Breaking news, K-Pop fans: the Wonder Girls‘ Sohee and 2AM‘s Seulong are dating!
As artists in the same company – JYP – the two idols had a chance to become close to each other, and for Sohee, who has a naturally shy personality, Seulong was one of the few friends she had, said an anonymous source to Dispatch, a Korean news outlet.
“Sohee is such a careful character,” said the anonymous person, who knew both members well. “Although she’s been a celebrity for a while, she can count the number of friends on one hand. She’s not the kind of person to easily reveal her feelings to anyone.”
From the pictures taken by Dispatch, the two idols can be seen together giving off a romantic vibe. The couple progressed greatly in their relationship especially after Sohee returned from her American activities, Dispatch said.
Seulong was a ‘soulmate’ for Sohee, according to the source. “Although she’s part of the world’s best girl group, she’s still a young teenager,” the source revealed. “She went through a lot in the States. Seulong was Sohee’s only friend and oppa with whom she could freely talk about her problems.”
Their meetings were coordinated in secrecy, and even their other close parties did not know about their clandestine meetings. Out of the four dates that Dispatch encountered, they were all held late at night and took place in their car.
On one date, held on January 8th when Sohee returned from Taiwan, Dispatch captured the pair snacking on rice noodles and exchanging presents.
They also met during Christmas, where they also exchanged presents and went on a Gangnam date in Seulong’s car.
A representative for JYP took a cautious stance, acknowledging that Seulong was one of Sohee’s few close friends, but refused to discuss the matter further. “The company does not know about their artists’ own private lives. Especially for emotional problems, we do not get involved. It will be hard to confirm anything about any feelings other than just friends.”

Sooooo I read this 'Breaking News' and I kinda just wanted to hide....
All I could think of was "the netizens are gonna go crazy!"
The 2nd thing I thought of was "Oh I hope the netizens don't give Sohee a bad time!"
Regardless of whether this is true or not the 'SoHeechul Affect' is probably going to kick in HARD! Heechul has declared his love for Sohee for so long that many assumed they would end up together one day despite Sohee refusing him time after time. Fans sent Heechul endless pictures of Sohee while he was in Basic training last year, which of course he promtly displayed and even showed in a Twitter Pic. Ohhh Heechul...what hath you wrought?
The only thing I can see that MIGHT, possibly prevent a bad outcome for this is for Heechul himself to make a statement......waiting.....

Last November....Kim Heechul defends Sohee’s honor from the army

JYP denies reports that Wonder Girls’ Sohee and 2AM’s Seulong are dating

A few hours ago, the Korean media reported that 2AM‘s Seulong and the Wonder Girls‘ Sohee were dating.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), their management company, JYP Entertainment, has released a statement denying all rumors of a relationship between the two idols.
“Rather than dating, Sohee and Seulong are just close friends,” JYP explained. “All JYP artists are close friends.”
Big Hit Entertainment, who jointly manages the ballad group 2AM along with JYP Entertainment, also professed to having no knowledge of their relationship. “Seulong is in Japan for his 2AM schedules, and we are in the process of verifying the particulars,” they said. “We will get back [to the media] once everything is confirmed.”

Did you miss us yesterday? Poof. Your digital life is gone, and you can't get it back!

Being silent yesterday was our way of showing you what might happen if SOPA passes.

Poof. Your digital life is gone, and you can't get it back.
The party line on SOPA is that it only affects seedy off-shore torrent sites. That's false. As the big legal brains at Bricoleur point out, the potential collateral damage is huge. And it's you. Because while Facebook and Twitter have the financial wherewithal to stave off anti-circumvention shut down notices, the smaller sites you use to store your photos, your videos, and your thoughts may not. If the government decides any part of that site infringes on copyright and proves it in court? Poof. Your digital life is gone, and you can't get it back.

Kids React to Kpop - Linzer Dinzer Reacts to Kids React - Can't we all just get along? MMR! Commentary

YOUTUBE!!! It's a magical place!
Oh babies >.< Lets watch the video before I get on my soapbox...
Kids React to K-pop

Uploaded by on Jan 8, 2012

To be fair, I did watch a few of these 'Kids React' videos because I wanted to get a better feel for the kids themselves, because quite frankly I was kind of outraged and dismayed. So after I calmed down a bit, let me just say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I guess now I can appreciate their raw views and comments. 'Kids say the darnedest things' And to be fair there are a few gems here, like the Youtube comment and 'Tokio Hotel' I'm semi-impressed that one of the kids were even AWARE of them. Also that the kids were pc enough to say Asian. Hell one of the kids even knew Kpop stood for Korean Pop!
Some of the things I DIDN'T like..."they all look the same" and " I want to listen to music I can understand" and "they look Emo" Super Junior? Emo? Seriously? I could see if it was a picture of SHINee doing Lucifer, they have even been called 'Gothic Lite' by foreign press which I found interesting but, Super Junior? I'm baffled.
I guess I'm most dismayed by the lack of open mindedness. Change is hard, I guess even kids are scared of things that are different. I really thought (hoped?) that each new generation would be more accepting than the last. I guess I'm delusional.....
"Can't we all just get along?".....*big sigh*...I guess its not such a Small World after all.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed Linzer Dinzer's reaction to 'Kids React'

[MMR! Commentary] X-5 releases 1st mini-album, ‘Dangerous’ or "How a group can have the best of everything and still fail"

After making their debut earlier this year with “Don’t Put On an Act”, boy group X-5 has returned with their first mini-album, ‘Dangerous‘.
Comprised of four tracks, the mini-album aims to showcase the group’s improved vocals; the boys also hope to cast a wider net for fans this time around with their ‘bad boy’ image.
Though they’ve already begun promotions for their title track, “Dangerous“, Open World Entertainment will soon follow up with the release of their music video, so stay tuned for further updates!
In the meantime, check out their songs below and don’t forget to support the artists by purchasing their album.

[My Music Radar Commentary]
I enjoy discovering new groups and music in Kpop! Really I do!
And I have been following X-5 since they were introduced on 110427.
I was all excited! Great vocals! Handsome boys!
Open World Entertainment using their average height of 186cm as a selling point was kind of lost on me, though I admit this might be a cultural difference thing.
X-5 debut tract “Don’t Put On An Act“ was produced by hip hop’s big daddy - 'Rhymer'
from 'Brand New Stardom'
Open World Entertainment has revealed that they’ve spent $100,000 USD in producing X-5‘s outfits.
“Outfits and accessories change with every concept, so there’s a bit of a difference in the expenses for each of the concepts. On average, however, one outfit costs about $1,500 to $2,000 USD to produce.”
And who did they get to be X-5's stylist? None other than Kang Bo Eun, who also works for the artists of SM Entertainment. Again the best! Okay so I am SME biased but meh, a good stylist is a good stylist.

Source:allkpop
Not bad! Right?
So how has it all gone so horrible wrong for X-5?
Let me take a quote from the allkpop article:
the boys also hope to cast a wider net for fans this time around with their ‘bad boy’ image.
Why did they fail so bad at picking up many fans? Especially in the recent Hallyu Wave environment where pretty much anyone can put on costumes, sing in Korean and gather many fans? Not enough exposure? Maybe, though Teen Top is still well known despite being gone for months at a time.
I think the Hallyu Wave has brought a level of sophistication that new groups just can't afford to ignore. Meaning the group needs to be a 'Total Package'.
Like Infinite for instance, Infinite and Teen Top were in a neck and neck race last year that was exhilarating to watch! Of course Infinite is leading by far right now BUT...I haven't lost hope for my Teen Top babies just yet with a comeback slated for next month. However BOTH groups are a 'Total Package'
So where is X-5 so lacking? One word 'Choreography'
Despite a fairly extensive search I was unable to find out just who does their choreography.
Maybe thats the problem? I don't know but have a look at this introductory video from their debut press conference and showcase.
Especially around mark 4:10

Epic comments on YouTube call for the choreographer to be fired!

The Korean invasion: New Yorkers are screaming for the new wave of pop stars-MMR! Commentary

Why am I starting with this article from the NYDaily News
instead of MMR!'s coverage of SMTown Live?
1.It seemed relevant...and a wee bit misinformed, David Yi gets most things right, and it is kinda fluffy (ie:taken from SME's trainee required 'What to say in interviews 101')
A lot of the reply's are just so damn jaded...I hope I never get that jaded about Kpop.
2. I'm waiting for Tara to wake up so we can have an MMR! meeting to figure out who is gonna write up who or if we should just do a combined article lol
So please wait a little while as we have 2 phones worth of video and pics to download!
The Korean invasion: New Yorkers are screaming for the new wave of pop stars
Sunday, October 23rd 2011, 4:00 AM
SM Entertainment Boy band SHINee hits the stage.
could they have used an older pic? *sigh*

The symptoms are uncontrollable shrieks, intense heart palpitations, soaked palms, speaking — and squealing — in foreign tongues.

Now arriving in New York City: The South Korean phenomenon known as "hallyu," or "Korean Wave."

Already a craze in Asia, the wave has opened the floodgates of K-Pop in France, Brazil, Germany and Australia. Now it's about to take over New York.

Fans will pack a sold-out Madison Square Garden Sunday night for a concert presented by SM, one of South Korea's biggest record labels. The lineup: Girls' Generation, f(x), BoA, Kangta, TVXQ, Super Junior and SHINee.

If you don't know the names, don't worry. Think of the show as a combination of the annual Jingle Ball extravaganza and a big helping of Seoul Train.

And if fans are pumped, so are the performers.

"It is absolutely a dream come true," Tiffany Hwang, 22, one member of Girls' Generation told the Daily News. "I'm so excited. All I've been looking forward to was this weekend for a pretty long time."

A previous SM concert in Paris sold out in under 15 minutes. A second show was added and tickets went in less than 10 minutes.

Korean pop has been causing a frenzy in NYC, too.
On a recent Monday afternoon, hordes of fans outnumbered tourists in Times Square, holding colorful cardboard signs outside of MTV's TRL studios. The cheers weren't for Katy Perry or Justin Bieber, but for a group of South Korean acts including B2ST and 4 Minute. One fan issued a familiar cry.

"Oh my God, this is a dream come true!" exclaimed Nicole Asmat, 19, who was part of the lucky audience inside TRL studios. A flood of tears drenched her face after one of her favorite stars held her hand from the stage.

"I haven't seen this in years," Peter Griffin, executive vice president at MTV said while peering at the crowd outside. "It reminds me of when 'N Sync was here and the fans lined up around the studio."

Just one day earlier, 40,000 fans screamed as K-Pop heartthrobs 2PM and TVXQ, among others, performed at the New York Korean Festival in Overpeck County Park in Bergen County, N.J. The next morning residents complained to authorities about the crowd noise.

"They mean so much to me. I started dancing again because of them," Ana Ciprian, 15, shrieked from her seat, wildly clapping her hands.

Others, like Katerin Morales, 21, traveled from Texas to get her up-close and personal dose of K-Pop. "I'm having a moment," she said, her left hand covering her mouth. "They're so far away that I never thought I'd see them."

Ashley Diomedi, 20, drove eight hours from Virginia; Kharla Salazar, 22, took a red-eye flight from Miami; Virgine Cote and five of her friends traveled from Quebec.

"Korean pop stars are beautiful, and I love them because they care so much about their fans," said Cote, sporting a bright shirt with the words SHINee — her favorite band — emblazoned in bold letters, while tugging on her art book, filled with sketches of Korean celebrities.

"We don't have singers like them in Canada."

[Commentary]"The day where Asian music becomes worldwide isn’t far off from now.” Ya Think?

Teddy Riley "The day where Asian music becomes worldwide isn’t far off from now.”
Ya think?, ok I am willing to bet that Lee Soo Man has a pretty good handle on things, I think their using FaceBook this past weekend to share 'real time' from Paris was a bit of genius and certainly shows that someone at SME is paying attention to whats going on in the global fandom of Kpop. Personally I was into Jpop first, but once I saw my very first Kdrama and Kpop videos? I was hooked...line and sinker.
Several times I have been very upset about statements made by idols and Management companies thanking ONLY their Korean fans for supporting them, this real life incident came to my mind instantly...Bi Rain was coming to NYC for the Time Gala for wining 'Most Influential' my daughter was sitting on the floor with tears in her eyes "MOM! we HAVE to go! We may NEVER get to see Rain again in our lifetimes!" Now, I am disabled, its not an easy thing for me to make this trip, though Rain is one of my TOP Idols, but how could I look at my daughter like that and say no? I couldn't...and so we indeed made the trip by car, and then train into NYC to see him. The time we actually saw him was brief, but she screamed along with everyone else (I did too) and it was so worth it. Everyone including Rain himself thanked his Asian fans......I wish he could have seen my 24 year old daughter with tears in her eyes pleading with me. Is SHE not a fan? Am I not a fan? Do I have to be Asian (btw, we ARE part Asian) to be counted? I was really hurt. Aisssshhhhhh! I voted for him too! My daughter was interviewed by Korean TV (YTN) news that was shown all over Korea from Rain's Time event. (And yes she was influenced by myself, through exposure to Kpop, she was also into all things Japanese prior to this) I even run my own "Blog spot" site dedicated to global music, though it is decidedly Korean in influence.
In my opinion, Korean Music Management as a whole needs to sit up and take notice that there just might be more of us than they really realize and that we are just as big fans as are the Korean fans, and that we have money to spend.
There! does THAT get your attention? Just sayin.....
