Viewers praise L’s acting abilities on ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’

L of boy group INFINITE is captivating his TV audience.
L is showcasing his natural acting abilities in his current tvN drama, ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band (written by Seo Yoon Hee, directed by Lee Kwon). On the February 14th episode, L put on a very convincing performance. On the episode, L hurt his hand while running to attend a rock festival, but he still managed to put on a passionate performance on stage for his audience. He rushed to get to the festival for Byung Hee (played by Lee Minki), and though his hand was dripping with blood, he was passionately playing the guitar and only focused on his performance so that the show would be successful.
After the show, L runs into Kim Yerim and it seems as though he is trying to suppress his emotions that surface upon seeing her. Instead of telling her how he feels, he is extremely cold to her, frustrating the viewers watching from home.
With his cold stare and natural acting abilities, L properly conveys the personality of his character, Lee Hyun Soo. When he poured his heart out to Kim Yerim in the drama, his emotions were effectively delivered and viewers who could sense his sincerity praised his acting skills. At the time the scene was being filmed, the staff members were blown away with his ability to focus.
I think I started showing you Hyun Soo’s true colors from the 6th episode,” he said. “I studied up on a lot of things in order to shoot scenes on stage. Please look forward the story as it continues to unfold.”
Meanwhile, ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’s is 16-episode mini series about the members of a high school rock band and their experiences with love and friendship. It airs every Monday and Tuesday at 11:00PM KST.

SHINee’s Minho talks about his acting experience in his new situational comedy

SHINee member Minho has been cast in the new SBS sitcom ‘The Salamander Expert and the Shadow Operation‘, and he recently shared his thoughts on being an actor for the very first time.
On January 12th, the singer worked hard to film on set and met with reporters from SBS in a studio and humbly remarked, “I am receiving a lot of good advice from my senior actors,” as he began his interview.
Interview:
-It’s been a week since you began filming. What, if anything, has changed since then?
It was really awkward in the beginning. I have participated in shorter one-act plays in the past, but its been so long since I’ve even done that, which didn’t help my case. But now, I’m comfortable seeing the staff members every day and I think I have better chemistry with my sunbae actors.”
- What are your senior co-stars like?
I used to watch movies featuring Oh Dalsoo sunbaenim, and remember thinking that I wanted to be just like him. It’s amazing to be standing in front of him, and working with him. Like a veteran, he always gives me ideas and suggestions as to how I should approach a particular scene. With his help, we are able to enrich the scenes that we originally planned.
Lim Wonhee sunbaenim always says, “Because I’m simple and ignorant”, when I see him. That’s how absorbed in her work he is. He even says that to the director. Lee Byung Jun sunbaenim and I have a lot of scenes together, and he really gets into character so much to the point that I really do think he has Alzheimer’s.
And actress Ryu Hyun Kyung who is the only female on set definitely shows that she is a powerful woman.”
- How did you decide on your concept for your character, Minhyuk?
A chic hacker who also has social phobia. He’s kind of a dark character, so I started wearing darker clothes, too. I’m like a shadow. I usually wear bright and colorful ensembles for stage performances, but here it’s completely different.
And to look more chic than ever, I grew out my hair and toned it down a bit. I cover my eyes with my hair, and try not to make any facial expressions. I work so that, even if I don’t do anything, I’m still communicating something to the viewers.”
- What kinds of things did you feel and realize as you took on this character?
Minhyuk is a character that’s completely different from me. It’s so weird and interesting how I come back to being myself after being Minhyuk all day. But that’s what makes it fun.”
- Anything you want to say to your viewers?
Although it’s a situational comedy, I ended up taking on more of a serious role. But still, I hope that I can help the viewers laugh as they watch the program. I saw a copy of Oh Dalsoo sunbaenim’s script before and he on it, he had written, “I hope everyone in the nation is able to relieve the stress from the week by seeing my act.” I would like to develop that mindset and work hard to deliver laughs to the viewers.”
The first episode of ‘The Salamander Expert and the Shadow Operation‘ airs on January 27th.

INFINITE’s L to star in new drama, ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’

INFINITE‘s L will make his acting debut in a new drama, Shut Up Flower Boy Band. The drama will air on cable channel tvN after the completion of Flower Boy Ramyun Shop.
As the cable channel seems to be using the idea of ‘flower boys’ in their recent dramas, ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’ will tell a story of a rock band with a more rugged style. A drama representative stated, “This drama will become a drama with a different flower boy atmosphere than the one shown in ‘Flower Boy Ramyun Shop’. It will show the appeal of a rock band of young boys.
Along with INFINITE’s L, the cast also includes boys who auditioned in tvN’s audition program, Oh Boy Project.
The drama will air its pilot episode on January 30th. But check out the trailer in the meantime!

[Drama News] Kim Ha Neul and T.O.P to become a couple for new drama, ‘Absolute Boyfriend’

Actress Kim Ha Neul and Big Bang‘s T.O.P have been cast to play the role of a couple in a new drama called ‘Absolutely Him’.
On October 18th, a source revealed that Kim Ha Neul and T.O.P were confirmed as the lead roles of a new drama, currently scheduled to be aired next March.
‘Absolutely Him’ is a romantic comedy that’s been adapted from a popular Japanese comic. The story features an imaginative story of a woman who orders an android boyfriend to fit her ideal type.
‘Absolutely Him’ has already been adapted into Japanese and Taiwanese dramas under the title, ‘Absolute Boyfriend‘. Both series gained immense popularity, and so the pressure’s on for Korea to do the same. Many are wondering how successfully the story will be translated, and who will join the cast.
The Korean pairing is bringing in strong interest, as T.O.P.’s romantic transformation is one that viewers have seen little of outside of his music videos. Additionally, Kim Ha Neul will continue her streak of being paired up with younger males for major movies (previously, she had teamed up with Yoo Seung Ho in the movie ‘Blind’ and Jang Geun Suk in ‘You are My Pet’).
Stay tuned for more updates!
