B.A.P opens up about their mission and what sets them apart.

“We have come to conquer Earth!”

That is the mission that rookie group B.A.P (‘Best Absolute Perfect’) has set out on. It sounds like a phrase you’d hear in sci-fi movies with evil villains or aliens from outer space, but that is the dream that B.A.P has set out to make into reality.
The six member group — comprised of leader Bang Yong Guk, Zelo, Himchan, Youngjae, Jongup, and Daehyun – sat down with Star News to discuss their dreams and goals.
The interview began with the reporter’s observation that the rookie group’s start has been as bold as their ambition. So far, B.A.P managed to draw 3,000 fans to their debut showcase, as well as ranked in the top 10 on Billboard‘s ‘World Album Chart’, ultimately pointing out that their debut has not been like that of a typical idol group.
Leader Bang Yong Guk stated, “Our six members’ unified dream is ‘world conquest’. We really want to become a world group. Although it’s a goal that’s far into the future, the dreams we currently hold are to stand on MTV’s World Stage in Malaysia as the representatives of Korea. Since our debut album is now out, we want to show everything that we’ve been preparing.”

Their debut album, ‘Warrior’, contains the title track of the same name, in addition to ‘Burn It Up’, ‘Unbreakable’, and ‘Secret Love’ (featuring SECRET‘s Song Ji Eun). The representative track of the album, “Warrior”, contains lyrics critical of society, a move that steps away from the ‘love song trend’ found in other male idol groups.
Himchan explained the process of how their album came to life. “When we work, we consult each other. While figuring out our first musical direction, we told ourselves to not do the same music as everyone else. That’s why we wondered how it would be if we incorporated a weighty topic like one that criticizes society, and that is how ‘Warrior’ was born. I want to keep singing songs that have morals to them.”
Bang Yong Guk added, “All six of us all hate following what others do. Rather than following someone else, we want to be a team that is followed by others. We practiced day and night before our debut to be noticed as such a group.”

Were the ‘six aliens’ able to meet their target goals? If the number of fans is any indication, they’ve already attracted over 18,000 registered members onto their official fan cafe. Their album has also sold 10,000 copies within two days.
Their performances have shown a charisma rarely seen from other idol groups, leading many to question if this group called B.A.P is truly a rookie. From their powerful choreography to their intense gazes, the boys sing and rap their way through the climactic performance.
Their powerful energy has even caused the stage to give way. During their pre-recording for SBS‘ ‘Inkigayo’, the stage was unable to withstand Bang Yong Guk’s “step performance” and gave way beneath his feet.
Jongup stated, “Whenever we stand on stage, something always breaks. In a recent recording, two  mic packs were damaged, and we even cut open our hands. We never realize that our bodies have been hurt until the performance ends. When we’re up on stage performing, we are so focused that we aren’t able to feel that we’ve been hurt.”
The members revealed, “When we stand on stage, rather than being nervous, we shiver with excitement.”
Although the group has already proven themselves as quite capable of setting out to accomplish their mission — yet they still showed their rookie-like image through their humble attitude.
Himchan acknowledged that they still have ways to go. “Since all six of us are blondes, even fans still get confused about our names. So first, we should probably get our names out there before we are able to conquer Earth. (laughs) We want to become a team that leads the trends in areas including fashion, music, and dance. In particular, in 2012, we hope everyone will become blondes and use B.A.P’s dance to diet.”

Bang Yong Guk described the versatility of their musical style with, “We are currently a white canvas that any picture can be drawn on.” He continued, “All the members love African-American music filled with soul. If I can be born again, I’d like to be born as an African-American and do music.”

Rookie group B.A.P. holds in-studio interview with ‘Mnet Wide’

Mnet Wide recently caught up with rookie group B.A.P, who made a powerful entrance into the K-pop scene with their fierce new single “Warrior“.
During the brief interview, the boys hilariously tried to emulate Bang Yong Guk‘s husky voice as well as maknae Zelo‘s unique rap skills.
B.A.P also displayed some of their synchronized dance moves, and revealed the results of their rigorous work outs!
With their talent and charming good looks, it’s no wonder they’re becoming everyone’s favorite rookie group.

B.A.P’s debut album ‘Warrior’ sells 1 million copies in 2 days

With B.A.P‘s increasing popularity on the rise, it is no surprise to hear that their debut album sales have surpassed their expectations.
On January 8th, a representative from TS Entertainment replied, “(B.A.P’s debut album) Warrior, started selling offline copies on January 31st and sold 1 million copies in two days.”
He continued, “The idea for a debut group to sell 1 million copies is hard enough, but to hear that they sold out was really shocking. Even now we’re being flooded with inquiries”.

B.A.P further impressed their company as their album was #3 on the Hanteo chart on February 2nd, proving that they could stand up to their sunbae’s SHINee and Se7en who followed at #4 and #5.
Their album ‘Warrior’ was also #1 on February 6th as the best ‘hot track’ above other boy groups Block B and B1A4‘s albums.

Meanwhile B.A.P had their debut showcase on January 28th at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, and immediately rose to #10 on Billboard‘s ‘World Album Chart’.
Congratulations to B.A.P for all the amazing achievements! I’m sure there will be many more to come.

Rookie boy group B.A.P made a powerful entrance into the music scene on January 26th with their new song, “Warrior“.
Although there are numerous new rookies arising in the industry, the boys seemed unfazed and performed on live stages without a glitch.
The members who have all colored their hair to platinum blonde met with OSEN on the 2nd for an interview. The group consists of Bang & Zelo who previously made their names known as a duo group, as well as Himchan, Dae Hyun, Young Jae, and Jong Up. It’s rare for new rookies to draw large crowds at new events, but an impressive 3,000 fans were in attendance at their massive showcase that was held in Seoul on January 28th.

They say that we are a powerful new rookie group, and although it’s a bit burdensome, we will work to exceed your expectations. Our fame hasn’t really sunk in yet, but we do know that our fan cafe members are growing by the day, which we are utterly grateful for. Thank you so much. We currently have 2,000 members (laughs).” (Daehyun)

OSEN was curious as to know what their secret was; how did they have so many fans just a week after debuting?

I think my appeal is that I seem approachable, and I think I have a smooth image. Haha. This is really embarrassing to say on my own. Also, Jong Up is a really talented dancer and he is really pure and innocent. He also has this quirky side to him that people find attractive. Daehyun is really good looking, and Yong Guk has this extremely charismatic side that comes out as soon as he steps on stage, and even I think he is pretty cool. Young Jae is really responsible and meticulous about everything he does. Our maknae Zelo is adorable and tall, so he gets the support from our nuna fans. He’s also an extremely talented rapper.” (Himchan)

The members have all dyed their hair platinum blonde. They have personally participated in their stage ensembles, their concept, as well as writing and composing their songs on the album in order to express their unique colors.

I like the platinum blonde look. All six of us are really unique, and we wanted to prevent ourselves from being too different, because we wanted a ‘team’ image on stage. Our company listens to our opinions, and Yong Guk hyung who wrote all the songs on our album is really serious and determined, as are the rest of us.” (Young Jae)

Some of the B.A.P members have been preparing for this debut for two years, and they are more determined than ever.

All of us started this with all different dreams, but we all had one dream that was the same across the board when we came together as a team. We want to become international, and conquer the world. We studied a lot of foreign music as well as a variety of artists, and we want to spread our music all over the globe. I think this is a dream we can make into a reality.” (Yong Guk)

We want to make a break through in the States. A lot of music and artists I admire are from the states, so I guess we will start with Asia and head that way. Haha. We first want to steal the hearts of Korea, and show you our best efforts.” (Jong Up)

Zelo who looked so sincere and pure throughout the entire interview added his two cents.

I’m the youngest here. I am 6 years younger than Yong Guk hyung. I think it’s a little easier for me being so young, because they take such good care of me. They do tease me a lot though, haha. I talk in my sleep a lot, but sometimes the hyungs answer me in their sleep. There are a lot of funny things that happen at the dorm. I think our strong friendship and teamwork is our biggest strength.” (Zelo)

The B.A.P members are determined to never lose their smile as they rise to the top.

We are going to focus on enjoying ourselves on stage. Instead of being so concerned with the competition, we want to pur more effort into becoming a trend-setting group.” (B.A.P)

The warriors of rookie idol group B.A.P have successfully completed their debut showcase.
On January 28th, new idol group B.A.P’s Himchan, Bang Yong Guk, Zelo, Jong Up, Young Jae, and Dae Hyun opened their first showcase at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
Unlike other rookie groups who begin on a smaller scale, B.A.P held their first showcase in a large scale concert-like format. The group’s great popularity was evident when more than 3,000 fans from both domestically and internationally were in attendance, bringing much interest to the group.
Following their captivating intro video, they performed “Burn It Up” off their first single album. This performance was followed by B.A.P’s “Unbreakable” with it’s strong beat and impressive vocals. Then they showed off a completely different side of themselves with their classy rapping style and emotional melody in “Secret Love“.
In addition, B.A.P’s Bang Yong Guk, Dae Hyun, and Zelo performed unit group songs which were released prior to the group’s debut including “I Remember” and “Never Give Up“. Other members prepared solo stages to bring attention to their individual talents as well.
TS Entertainment labelmate SECRET made a special appearance at the showcase as they performed their hit songs “Madonna” and “Love is Move” in hopes of B.A.P’s success.
SECRET said,

“Thank you all for coming to B.A.P’s debut stage. We are so proud. We were jealous of other agencies who held family concerts. We’re happy now that we think we will have those kinds of opportunities.“

After about an hour of performances, B.A.P wrapped up their showcase with their first single’s title track “Warrior“. In alignment with the song’s concept of an alien who plans to take over the world, the spaceship like stage hyped up the audience as they gave an energy-filled performance.
